This story-necklace honoring Ruth is #2 in our "Hand of God" series~~each will be a representation of a life touched and blessed by God. Hammered heavy gauge sterling silver forms the "hamsa," or Hand of God. Symbols of Ruth's life are woven across the hamsa on fine gauge sterling wire. During the lean years of pain and want, represented by the short side sections, the widowed Moabitess Ruth begs to stay with her mother-in-law Naomi. Faith in Naomi's God, friendship and loyalty characterize Ruth's life, as she works gleaning grain in her new country to support Naomi and herself. The rich golden-browns of the handmade beads contrast with the green background in memory of those grain fields. Ruth was always protected by God's hand. The three carnelian hearts represent Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz~~Naomi's kinsman~~who falls in love with Ruth and offers her hope for the future. Thus, all three people move from the years of want into the years of grace and prosperity, shown by the long strands in the middle section. The three curled gold-filled wire designs symbolize the intertwined lives of these three remarkable people. Through Ruth, Naomi experiences joy once more. And through the union of Ruth the foreigner and Boaz, Israel received her most glorious earthly king~~their great-grandson David. "Whither Thou Goest, I Will Go" has a detachable beaded necklace of 24 inches. It has a sterling silver toggle hook. The hamsa is 4 5/8 inches tall and 4-1/2 inches across. This is a one-of-a-kind original.
